MADISON, Wis. - Edgewood College's search for a new head women's and men's tennis coach turned up the best candidate. The Eagles have named Kevin Friend to take over the Eagle tennis programs which have combined to win 13 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference titles since 2008.

"Kevin quickly emerged as a great candidate for our tennis programs. His name continued to come up as a great fit for Edgewood College." said Eagles Director of Athletics Al Brisack. "Numerous people identified him as an enthusiastic and skilled teacher of tennis. His experience directing the popular UW-Whitewater tennis camps speaks volumes for his organizational and teaching abilities. Through the interview process, he demonstrated the enthusiasm for recruiting that is so important for our success. I am very excited to have Kevin join Edgewood College!"

Friend comes to Edgewood College after spending seven seasons as the head boys' and girls' varsity tennis coach at Oconomowoc High School. For the past five years, Friend has also been a teaching professional at the Wisconsin Athletic Club Lake Country. Since 2012 Friend has been involved in the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Tennis Camp, running any and all of the six ability level groups.

"I am very excited to start my college coaching career, meet the teams and get to work!" Friend said. "I feel very honored to have this opportunity."

Friend has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from UW-Whitewater.
