MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced its major awards and all-conference team for the 2019 women's tennis season Monday.

Illinois Institute of Technology junior Morgan Colbert (Glen Carbon, Ill.) was named the 2019 NACC Women's Tennis Player of the Year, while Edgewood College's Ally Verbauwhede (Whitelaw, Wis.) was named the league's Freshman of the Year.

Colbert posted a 20-7 mark this fall, including a 17-1 mark against NACC competition between singles and doubles play. Holding down the No. 1 position in the Scarlet Hawks' singles lineup, she went 10-3 overall including a perfect 9-0 mark in league play. Colbert also recorded a 10-4 mark in doubles play pairing with Hana Iverson. The pair were 9-3 in duals, including 8-1 against NACC tandems. She is the second consecutive NACC Women's Tennis Player of the Year representing Illinois Tech following Weronika Halicka's win last year.

Verbauwhede made an impact in the Eagle lineup from day one, posting a 20-8 mark in her inaugural fall season. She was 11-3 in singles play, including a perfect 8-0 against NACC competition playing primarily at the No. 5 spot. Verbauwhede also posted a 9-5 mark in doubles, playing primarily at the No. 1 spot with older sister Sydney. She becomes the fourth Edgewood player named NACC Women's Tennis Freshman of the Year (Lizzy Starck, 2008; Morgan Wilson, 2012; Alicia Picard, 2016).

Edgewood's Schultz Named Coach of the Year
Bubba Schultz, head coach of league champion Edgewood, was named NACC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. He directed the Eagles to a 12-2 mark overall this fall, including second-consecutive undefeated mark in league play (9-0) en route to the program's ninth NACC title. Edgewood will be the top seed for the NACC Women's Tennis Tournament to be held next spring.

All-Conference Team Announced
The NACC also announced its 2019 all-conference women's tennis squad. A total of 10 players, including four from league champion Edgewood, received all-NACC honors in both singles and doubles. The Eagles' Alyssa Carew, Kai Heineman, Ally Verbauwhede and Sydney Verbauwhede accounted for eight of the 25 all-league honors distributed. Illinois Tech's Colbert and Iverson, Marian's Emma Lewandowski and Mackenzie Meyers, Concordia Wisconsin's Ricki Budewitz and MSOE's Daniela Svedova also earned all-NACC honors in both singles in doubles.
