Wilson National Title Highlights NACC Effort on Final Day of NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. (naccsports.org) --- Concordia University Chicago hurdler Simone Wilson won the national title in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday on the final day of the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on the Irwin Belk Track at Truist Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.


Final Results


Wilson stopped the clock in 60.01 to edge Bethany Gingerich of George Fox University (60.10) and Emma Lawrence of University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (60.66) at the line for the crown. She is CUC's first individual national champion. The time is also an all-time Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) record.

Teammate Kayla Armstrong grabbed third in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes to capture all-America honors in both events. She finished the 200 in 24.16 and the 400 in 54.61.

The Benedictine quartet of Joshua Harris, DJ Anderson, Kevin Agwomoh, and Matt Fleming captured eighth place in the 4x100-meter relay with a clocking of 41.47 seconds.

Jocelyn Ocon of Aurora University uncorked a throw of 49.88 meters (163-8) with her first effort in the women's hammer throw but was not able to improve on the effort with either of her final two preliminary throws and placed 12th overall.

As a team, Concordia Chicago finished tied for 11th place in the final women's team standings with 22 points. Benedictine tied for 26th place in the final men's team standings with nine points.
