GREENSBORO, N.C. (naccsports.org) --- The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) claimed one all-America honor Thursday and advanced three of four preliminary entries to event finals Saturday during the first day of the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on the Irwin Belk Track at Truist Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.

Benedictine University's Matt Fleming brought home the league's first all-America honor of the weekend with a runner-up finish in the long jump. He cleared 7.24 meters (23-9) on his final preliminary jump but was not able to improve on the mark with any of his three jumps in the finals. Egypt Page of SUNY Brockport won the title after clearing 7.42 meters (24-4-1/4).

Fleming then anchored the Eagles' 4x100-meter relay to a fourth-place finish in their preliminary heat. The team of Joshua Harris, DJ Anderson, Kevin Agwomoh, and Fleming stopped the clock in 41.20 and will be seeded eighth in Saturday afternoon's final.

Concordia University Chicago's Simone Wilson won her preliminary heat of the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.02 and will take the best preliminary time into the final.

The NACC went 1-for-2 in advancement opportunities in the women's 200. Concordia Chicago's Kayla Armstrong won her heat with a 24.14-second clocking and automatically transferred to Saturday's final with the third-best preliminary mark. Wisconsin Lutheran College's Kendra Schumacher took third in her heat with a time of 24.63 seconds but fell one spot short of advancing to the final with a ninth-place finish.

Four NACC entries are slated to be in action Friday. Schumacher and Armstrong return for preliminaries in the 100 and 400, respectively, while Anderson comes back to compete in the men's open 400. Edgewood College's Lucas Caminiti will cap in the 3,000-meter steeplechase - the last event of the day on the track.
