NACC Qualifies 10 Entries for NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS — Seven Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) student-athletes, representing four institutions, have qualified a total of 10 entries for the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced Friday.

The championships will be held Thursday-Saturday, May 23-25 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

For each men's individual event contested, including the decathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each women's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.

Concordia University Chicago qualified a league-high four entries led by Kayla Armstrong, who has top-four times nationally in both the 200 (4th, 24.47) and 400 (3rd, 55.78). Simone Wilson has the 16th-best seed time in the 400 hurdles (1:02.31), while Jessica Wilson has the third-best seed mark in the hammer throw (55.79 meters; 183-0).

The women's hammer throw is the only event with multiple NACC entries. Wilson will be joined by Aurora's Jocelyn Ocon, who has the seventh-best seed mark at 53.66 meters (176-0).

MSOE's Jerica Kotarak qualified in both the triple jump and long jump. She has the ninth-best seed mark in the triple jump (11.93 meters; 39-1.75) and the 18th-best mark in the long jump (5.71 meters; 18-9).

Aurora's Ryan Njegovan also qualified in a pair of events. He owns the third-best seed mark in the discus throw (53.05 meters; 174-0) and the 19th-best mark in the shot put (16.22 meters; 53-2.75).

The final NACC qualifier is Benedictine's Marcos Garcia, who has the seventh-best seed time in the 5,000 (14:22.45). He will also be the final NACC qualifier to compete. The 5,000 is the second-to-last event on the track with the men's race slated to go off at 3:25 p.m. Saturday, May 25.
